Modern Skateboarding

Modern Skateboarding

For the last three decades, skateboarding has been a very popular sport, and quiet frankly it is quiet modern. Skateboarding, in fact, has been in existence since nineteen eighty, which just so happens to be the exact same year that the first modern skateboard was ever made. Since that time, both the young and the not so young alike, really enjoy carving the streets as well as experiencing the adrenaline rush that stems from trick skating, free riding and the similar. Skateboarding has been influenced deeply by and has been a derivative of the sport and art of surfing. Surfing which was rooted and developed within Hawaii, is basically an act of riding the waves with your surfboard. Skateboarding, similar to surfing entails actually riding a skateboard while on land, and even more specifically, concrete or paced surfaces. Skateboards are being made in several different styles and made with a variety of skating methods within mind’s reach.

There are some skateboards that are fashioned and styled after the longboard surfboards. Even though all of these skateboards are not actually intended for the extensive tricks, the longboard skateboards are really great for carving during the time that you are cruising the streets and bombing for the hills. There are also some skateboards that are created specifically for trick skating. All of these skateboards are much shorter boards that allow the skater to manipulate movement a lot more effectively and quickly in order to perform tricks and stunts like Casper flips, Ollies, back stabs and nosegrinds. Since the nineteen eighties, skateboarding has been extremely popular, just as it was mentioned within the earlier part of this article, and it has since then spawned itself into its very own culture. The skateboard culture is also referred to as skate punk or punk culture. Just like several other cultures, the skate punk culture, has a language and fashion of its very own.

There are several companies and brands of manufacturers of skateboard related items and skateboards. With the popularization that is associated with skateboarding and the overall image that it entails, it has also come to the financial aspect and monetization of this particular sport. There are several skateboarding magazines, skating contest events, and skateboard clothing and fashion companies. Among these companies, you will find: Element Skateboards, Birdhouse skateboards, Sector 9 Skateboards, Baker Skateboards, as well as the classic skateboards by Powell, and several more. Normally, each individual skateboard brand will have a team that consists of professional skateboards that are sponsored which represent them at all of the skateboarding events.

As an experienced skateboarder one would understand the true meaning of skateboarding but as a beginner in the skateboarding world, you are not yet able to understand and distinguish the true meaning of skateboarding yet. Skateboarding is about freedom, relationships and bonds, enjoying life and above and beyond all else, being yourself. When you’re skateboarding, you are free to be whoever you want to be whenever you want to be and that is all that matters.
